We invite you to watch the new Polish documentary series "The Case of Iwona Wieczorek," premiering on Viasat True Crime over three consecutive evenings starting Monday, August 19th at 9:00 PM. This 2023 Polish crime series delves into one of the most mysterious disappearance cases in Poland, which has sparked immense emotion and social interest for over a decade.

A disappearance that shocked Poland

In the summer of 2010, 19-year-old Iwona Wieczorek vanished without a trace on her way home from a party. She had just graduated from high school and was planning a holiday in Spain. Her last known location was only a few minutes from her home, but from that point, she disappeared without a trace. Was it an abduction, a runaway, or perhaps murder? Over the years, various clues have emerged, but none have led to solving the case. This documentary series meticulously examines each known piece of the puzzle, investigating new evidence and theories.

Iwona Wieczorek: a young woman with dreams

Iwona Wieczorek was a lively young woman just beginning her adult life. Born on October 31, 1990, she lived in Gdańsk with her mother, Agnieszka Wieczorek. Being an only child made her disappearance an even more significant blow to her family. Iwona had just graduated from High School No. 1 in Gdańsk, where she was well known among her peers and teachers. Her friends described her as cheerful, sociable, and ambitious, with many plans for the future.

Family and friends

Iwona was very close to her family, especially her mother, who is determined to find her daughter. Agnieszka Wieczorek, from the beginning, actively engaged in the search and never stopped believing that Iwona would be found. Those close to Iwona remember her as a lively person who loved spending time with friends. She had a wide circle of acquaintances, with whom she often went to parties and trips. On the day of her disappearance, Iwona was partying with friends at the Dream Club in Sopot.

Last moments before disappearance

On the night she disappeared, Iwona spent the evening partying with a group of friends. Around 2:30 AM, she decided to walk home alone, which was somewhat unusual for her as she typically returned with someone. Surveillance cameras captured her at several points along her route, but she vanished just minutes from home. This final footage made the case even more mysterious and intriguing.

A new perspective on the investigation

The series offers a comprehensive analysis of the investigation, providing insights from detectives, journalists, and online sleuths. A significant role is played by a police officer who claims the perpetrator can be identified. Additionally, the series explores various theories put forth by the media and the online community. One of the most poignant voices is that of Iwona's mother, who continuously fights to find her daughter.

Detective Krzysztof Rutkowski is one of the key figures in this case. Known for his determination and unconventional methods, Rutkowski has solved many high-profile cases. His involvement in Iwona Wieczorek's case has brought new attention and hope for a resolution. His impressive career and bold approach make him a fascinating protagonist in this series, as he relentlessly pursues the truth.
